May — Trinity's 200th Birthday

On Sunday, May 18th, Trinity United Methodist Church celebrated its 200th birthday! We welcomed Bishop Tracy S. Malone, Mayor Stephanie Terry, and many more for a special worship and celebration.
During service, church historian Bill Bartelt delivered a history moment. Resident musician Thomas Hemenway debuted a special choral piece written for the Bicentennial. Afterward, we celebrated with a reception in the newly refurbished Craig Hall. Mayor Terry delivered a proclamation marking the Bicentennial and announcing the week of May 18th, 2025, as Trinity United Methodist Church Bicentennial Celebration Week.
Transcript of Bishop Malone's Remarks

February — Guest Speaker David Hamilton

David Hamilton, senior United States circuit judge, delivered remarks titled "Trinity and Faith During Wartime, Hot and Cold." The remarks drew from the sermons, outlines, and notes of his grandfather, Dr. Frank A. Hamilton, the minister of TUMC from 1943-1953.

Both World War II and the Cold War posed challenges for Christians in confronting threats to American democracy and society while staying true to their faith. Rev. Hamilton wrestled with those challenges throughout his ministry, and he tried to help his congregation do the same.

Think about this inspiring picture -- a Jewish Rabbi pleading with a Roman Catholic layman for a gift on behalf of a Methodist college... Without the Evansville community and especially without Trinity United Methodist Church, there is no Evansville College.  There is no University of Evansville.

Our Methodist roots remind us that education is about more than knowledge—it is about shaping individuals who will go out into the world with a sense of purpose and a commitment to making a difference.
